Empirical Articles

An empirical research article contains original research and has a standard format which includes an Abstract, Introduction, Methods/Methodology, Results, and Discussion or Conclusion. Empirical research may involve qualitative or quantitative research methods.

Read the abstract. It summarizes the article, briefly describes the research methods and results.

In SocINDEX and Criminal Justice Abstracts, you can add it to your search strategy. Search "EMPIRICAL research" and your topic. If you find that too limiting, try  "EMPIRICAL research" OR EMPIRICAL study" OR “QUALITATIVE research” OR "QUANTITATIVE research". For fewer results, search for the keywords empirical qualitative or quantitative research in the subject field.
