RESOURCES FOR ONLINE LEARNERS

The Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston provides a number of electronic resources (books, articles, journals, etc), and services for Distance Learners. We subscribe to eBooks, eJournals and over a 100 online databases which are available to the students, staff and faculty. We also provide online library research help and assistance with using libraries in your area. Many of these resources are available anytime, anywhere.

    LIBRARY ACCESS

Library resources are obtained through a barcode which enables online students to access e-reserves, electronic resources, and e-mail the library with reference questions. Online students may access the UMB electronic library by means of a barcode. To obtain a barcode an online student must e-mail library.circulation@umb.edu and give:

    • name as appears at registration
    • semester and year
    • course name and number
    • student ID #
    • e-mail address

Once the library has received the information, the student will be sent an e-mail with barcode information. The barcode is good only for the semester the student is enrolled in an online UMB course. In order to access some resources from remote locations, pop-ups must be enabled. If you have problems with remote access go to the Frequently Asked Questions about Off-Campus Access Information.
