New Interface for EBSCO Databases

On July 14, 2025, EBSCOhost will migrate to a new user interface. EBSCOhost is the platform used by several dozen databases that the library subscribes to, including Academic Search Premier, Business Source Complete, CINAHL, SocINDEX.

Links

All links to the current interface (Classic UI) will automatically redirect to the new UI, so no updates to bookmarks or URLs are needed—though it's a good practice to double-check them and best practice to update them.

The new interface is available now for early access.

Locate the updated user interface links for individual databases within the descriptions of various EBSCO databases in the databases list. Check the Exploring the New User Interface page on this guide for more information.

What to Enjoy about the New User Interface:

  • EBSCO urls can be saved and bookmarked from the browser! Previously, these links would expire.
  • Increased conformance to accessibility guidelines
  • Interface responsive to a variety of devices

If you have questions, concerns, or feedback about this change, please email library.systems@umb.edu

ATTENTION: EBSCO personal account holders

Users’ personal accounts will also transition over (and have already been syncing to the new interface). The new interface will replace “Folders” with a new feature called “My Dashboard”.

Title "Folders Not Being Migrated" and the following folders circled: Companies, Pages, Notes, Other Content Sources, Persistent Links to Searches, Saved Searches, Search Alerts, Journal Alerts, Web Pages, My Custom folders, Shared folders.

The following content in your EBSCOhost account folder will transfer to the new interface:

  • Articles
  • Images
  • Videos
  • eBooks
  • audioBooks
  • Checkouts
  • Holds

However, some content will not transfer and must be manually recreated in the new interface:

  • Companies
  • Pages
  • Notes
  • Other Content Sources
  • Persistent Links to Searches (not the same as Saved Searches)
  • Saved Searches **
  • Search Alerts
  • Journal Alerts
  • Web Pages
  • My Custom folders **
  • Shared Folders

**EBSCO is currently developing features to transfer Saved Searches and Custom Folders, but they may not be available before the end of the semester.

For content that won’t transfer, manually recreate it in the new interface or save it (e.g., via screenshots or Word docs).
