CINAHL Ultimate (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) This link opens in a new window
Authoritative resource for nursing & allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers. Provides indexing for 1,740 journals, including complete coverage of nursing journals and publications published by the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association. Also offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters.
PubMed (with links to UMass Boston Holdings) This link opens in a new window
Comprises more than 21 million citations for biomedical literature* from the US National Library of Medicine's prestigious MEDLINE database, as well as from life science journals and online books. Indexing of articles (back to 1948) from approximately 5,400 biomedical journals published both in the US and more than 80 other countries. Also links to some free, open-access full text.
Ovid Premier Nursing Journals Plus Nursing@Ovid This link opens in a new window
Indexes over 400 nursing and allied health journals from all over the world. Full-text access to 50 highly-cited journals published by leading publishers, including Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW.)

AccessMedicine provides leading McGraw-Hill medical textbooks such as Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine and online teaching tools such as animated anatomy modules and procedural videos. The collection was designed for residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, with instant access to videos, self-assessment, and leading medical textbooks that facilitate decision-making at the point-of-care. UpToDate is a clinical decision support resource that delivers evidence-based insights and recommendations authored and edited by world-known experts in their field. It’s designed to be clear, actionable, and apply to the patient at the point of care.

Registration required Click "sign in" and select the "Sign in with OpenAthens" option. This registers and signs you in using UMass Boston credentials. First-time users will see a "Complete Registration" page to fill out your name, specialty, etc. before you arrive at the database.
LILACS This link opens in a new window
LILACS: A comprehensive database of Latin American & Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, with more than 880 thousand records of peer reviewed journals, thesis and dissertations, government documents, annals of congresses and books, published since 1982. Includes systematic reviews, randomized controlled clinical trials, evidence synthesis, health technology evaluation studies, economic evaluation studies, clinical practice guidelines, technical reports, case reports and others.

The database contains millions of citations, derived from thousands of biomedical and life science journals, and indexed with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) from the NLM controlled vocabulary. Extending back to 1946, annual input now exceeds 700,000 citations.

MEDLINE® is a bibliographic database produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Contains over 250 full text nursing & allied health journals, many from CINAHL database. Full text begins in the early to mid 1990's, but indexing goes back to the early 1980's.

PsycINFO is the major research database in the field of psychology. It covers all areas of psychology as well as psychological aspects of related disciplines, such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, and law. Indexes and abstracts journal articles, book chapters, technical reports, and dissertations and contains over 2.6 million citations and summaries dating as far back as the early 1800s.

ScienceDirect provides full text online access to over 4500 Elsevier scholarly journals and ebooks from the humanities and physical, life, health, and social sciences.

SAGE Research Methods is a research methods tool created to help researchers, faculty and students with their research projects. SAGE Research Methods links over 100,000 pages of SAGE’s renowned book, journal and reference content with truly advanced search and discovery tools. Researchers can explore methods concepts to help them design research projects, understand particular methods or identify a new method, conduct their research, and write up their findings. Since SAGE Research Methods focuses on methodology rather than disciplines, it can be used across the social sciences, health sciences, and more.

Our SAGE Research Methods access only covers SAGE Research Methods Books & Reference (Core), Cases Part 1, and Datasets Part 1. After you run a search, select the 'Content available to me' option to filter for results with full access.

Visible Body Suite (formerly Human Anatomy Atlas) This link opens in a new window
A comprehensive 3D atlas of the human body. You must create an account. Upon your first visit, click on the Sign Up link at the bottom. You can then create your account using your existing Google account or make a completely separate account. With that account, you also get access to the mobile app, and you can log into the database without having to go through the library link for 150 days.

For tablet/mobile devices: download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Account creation is best done on a laptop/desktop initially to link to your UMass Boston access. Or while making sure you're signed out from the app, you can sign in with the account one time on a laptop/desktop to make that link. Afterward, use the mobile app for 150 days without needing to link it again.

The first time the web app launches, it can take a few minutes. If the wheel keeps spinning for more than 5 minutes, you may need to close out all your tabs and clear your browser’s cache, cookies, and history from all time.

ProQuest Central is a comprehensive multidisciplinary research database. It provides access to databases across all major subject areas, including business, health and medical, social sciences, arts and humanities, education, science and technology, and religion.
