Publishing Your Work

You have worked hard to create your publication. Spend some time reviewing open access publishing options and considerations.

What is an APC?

If you choose to make your publication open access, some journals may require the author to pay an article processing charge (APC), or publication fee. This fee can cost up to several thousand dollars, depending on the journal. Publishers justify the charge as necessary to cover their publishing costs. Some publishers provide a waiver or discount request for authors.

A great place to review Article Processing Charge information is the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high-quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals.
