Healey Library will create temporary OpenAthens accounts for e-resource access for new faculty members, whose @umb.edu accounts may not be ready. New faculty will receive an email with instructions on how to activate and use the account.
- New Tenure-Track Faculty who start in fall semester: The accounts will be automatically created in late July / early August and are valid for 30 days after the first day of the fall semester.
- New Tenure-Track Faculty who start in spring semester: They can request an account by emailing library.systems@umb.edu with their department chair CCed, or their department chair can request the account on behalf of the new faculty. Accounts will be created within 2-4 business days and are valid for 30 days after the first day of the spring semester.
- New Non Tenure-Track Faculty: They can request an account by emailing library.systems@umb.edu with their department chair CCed, or their department chair can request the account on behalf of the new faculty. Accounts will be created within 2-4 business days and are valid for 30 days.
Before accessing library resources, faculty using an OpenAthens account need to first log in at https://my.openathens.net/auth (please avoid using the "Find Your Institution" link, which is reserved for those with @umb.edu accounts).
Once the new faculty member has their @umb.edu account, they can skip this step. We ask that faculty use their @umb.edu account as soon as it becomes available.
Faculty will not be able to access the following resources with the OpenAthens account: Covidence, Sports & Fitness Industry Association, and the Boston Business Journal.
