Search Tips

Effective search strategies include adding quotations around phrases and using the Boolean operators.

To search for articles on the types of health interventions available for older adults with diabetes, your search might look like this:

“health promotion” AND diabetes AND “older adult”

To search for articles on smoking and pregnancy and Latina women, the search might look like this:

"Smoking cessation" AND ("older adults" OR adults)

The search includes all major concepts linked by the AND operator. We also added OR to broaden the search and look for both terms adults OR older adults

Putting quotes around phrases: “smoking cessation”, “health promotion”, “college students”, “cancer screening”…. will search for those concepts exactly.
