Using a combination of Healey Library's resources and the web, researchers can compile a list of an author's work and find out who has cited the author. How many times an author or work has been cited is one indicator of the impact that author or work has had on other scholars' research. Cited author and cited work searches are also useful for finding related information on a subject.
Note that there is not one best resource for Cited Author searches. For a comprehensive project, it is best to use more than one of the resources listed to the left. Web of Science tends to be strongest in the sciences and least strong in the humanities. Google Scholar works well for retrieving citation information for "grey literature" such as state and federal sponsored research reports.
