Over the course of this term, I have encouraged you to reflect on these theories, models, and techniques and how they might support learning -- but also what perspectives and voices may be not represented in them. Recently there has been an increased attention about the roles of prior experiences, personal identities, cultural differences, and political/power relationships play in learning. To spark your thinking, here are a few sources from the realm of “critical pedagogy”. In this context, “critical” means questioning the underlying assumptions of pedagogical practices. Bring your thoughts and questions to our final class. You do not have to read all of these, but scan through them to get an idea of what they are doing.
